Govt to Recruit 18,149 Officers Through Five BCS Exams
The Ministry of Public Administration plans to recruit 18,149 civil servants through the ongoing five Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) examinations.
Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration Mokhlesur Rahman gave the information at a press conference at the secretariat on Sunday.
The senior secretary said 2,064 cadre officers will be recruited through the 43rd BCS examinations, 1,710 cadre officers through the 44th BCS examinations, 2,309 cadre officers through the 45th BCS examinations, 3,140 cadre officers through the 46th BCS examinations, and 3,487 cadre officers through the 47th BCS examinations.
Besides, 642 non-cadre officers will be recruited through the 43rd BCS examinations, 1,791 non-cadre officers through the 44th BCS examinations, 1,570 non-cadre officers through the 45th BCS examinations, 1,111 non-cadre officers through 46th BCS examinations, and 325 non-cadre officers through the 47th BCS examinations.

43rd BCS
The gazette for 2064 candidates has been published in the 43rd BCS. The date of joining is set for January 1, 2025. Since the gazette has been discussed and criticized in various media after its publication of the gazette, further scrutiny is underway through the intelligence agencies - NSI and DGFI in the interest of appointing candidates with a 'clean image'.
44th BCS
Before August 5, the oral examination of BCS 44th was underway. 11732 candidates passed the written examination. Out of these, 3930 candidates took the oral examination. In the situation after August 5, this oral examination was postponed to August 25. Recently, after the formation of the new commission, it has been decided to drop the oral examination of 3930 candidates previously taken in the interest of greater transparency. Now it has been decided to take the oral examination of all the candidates who passed the written examination in this BCS, that is, 11732 candidates.
45th BCS
12789 candidates passed the preliminary examination of the 45th BCS. After the evaluation of the written examination answer sheets by the first examiner, the evaluation work by the second examiner was almost completed. Recently, after the formation of a new commission, it has been decided to give all the answer sheets of this written examination to the third examiner to maintain transparency and fairness in the evaluation of the written examination answer sheets.
46th BCS
The results of the preliminary examination of the 46th BCS were published on May 9, 2024. In this examination, 10638 candidates were selected for the written examination. In order to eliminate possible discrimination, it was decided to add the same number of candidates, i.e. 10638, to the already selected candidates, and consider a total of 21276 candidates eligible for the written examination and declare the results again.
47th BCS
A request has been sent to the Bangladesh Public Service Commission to issue recruitment notices for 3487 posts in various cadres through the 47th BCS examination.
