The deadline for initial registration for those intending to perform Hajj in 2025 is set for Sunday, December 15. In light of this, the Religious Affairs Ministry has requested that banks remain open beyond the scheduled hours on that day.
On Thursday, December 12, Mamun Al Farooq, Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Religious Affairs sent a letter to Bangladesh Bank regarding this matter.
The letter stated that the Hajj registration process will conclude on Sunday. To facilitate Hajj pilgrims, it is necessary for branches of the banks designated for receiving Hajj funds to remain open beyond office hours.
The Ministry has requested the banks to take the necessary measures to accept payments for as long as individuals are willing to deposit funds.
On Friday, the Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Religious Affairs said, "We issued this letter to ensure that the registration process doesn't face any last-minute obstacles."
However, as of Friday afternoon, no decision had been made, according to Shahriar Siddique, Assistant Spokesperson and Director of Bangladesh Bank.
