Dhaka continues to rank among the world's most polluted cities almost daily, and today is no exception. With an air quality index (AQI) score of 184, the city remains at the top of the list. This level of air pollution is classified as ‘unhealthy.’
According to the air quality index by international air monitoring technology company IQAir, this information was recorded at 9 AM on Saturday (February 22).
Following Dhaka, Kathmandu, Nepal, ranks second with a score of 178, while Kampala, Uganda, is in third place with the same score. Kraków, Poland, holds the fourth position with 170, and Skopje, North Macedonia, is in fifth place with 165.
As per IQAir, the air quality in all these cities is categorized as ‘unhealthy’ today.
IQAir, a Switzerland-based organization, provides real-time air quality monitoring, indicating how clean or polluted a city’s air is. According to its standards:
An AQI score of 0-50 is considered good.
51-100 is moderate or acceptable.
101-150 is unhealthy for sensitive groups.
151-200 is classified as unhealthy.
201-300 is considered very unhealthy.
Above 301 is regarded as hazardous or a severe pollution crisis.
