There is no legal obstacle to hold the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) election. The Appellate Division has withdrawn the stay order of the High Court. Lawyer of the writ petitioners Manjil Morshed confirmed the information.
The High Court delivered a verdict regarding the DUCSU election on January 17 last year. In the order the university authority was asked to hold the election within six months. Then the university authority filed leave to appeal seeking stay order over the verdict.
On October 1 last year the chamber judge stayed the verdict and sent it to the regular bench of the Appellate Division for hearing. In this continuation the matter was upheld for hearing on Sunday.
Lawyer Mahbubey Alam stood for the university authority in the hearing.
Lawyer of the writ petitioners Manjil Morshed said Rtv online, the court has withdrawn the stay order of the chamber judge. Besides, the court has kept the hearing of the appeal by the Dhaka University authority stand over till March 31. So there is no legal obstacle to hold the election.
