The bank accounts of recently removed Jubo League chairman Omor Faruk Chowdhury and his family members have been frozen.
The Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) of Bangladesh Bank issued the letters to the banks in this regard following application submitted by National Board of Revenue (NBR). Chief of BFIU Abu Hena Md. Razi Hasan confirmed the matter.
NBR in its letter told the banks that no money withdrawal or transaction can be made over the accounts of Omor Faruk Chowdhury, his wife Sheikh Sultana Rekha and sons Abid Chowdhury, Muktadir Ahmed Chowdhury and Ishtiaq Ahmed Chowdhury.
NBR also sought suspension of the transaction of the accounts of Omor Faruk’s business organizations- Lake View Properties and Rao Construction.
Earlier on October 3 NBR summoned information of all the bank accounts of Omor Faruk Chowdhury. At that time it asked to send the information within three work days.
