HSC exam postponed in Sylhet division

Sylhet has been hit by flash floods due to the landslides and heavy rains of the last few days. Most of the areas in the districts of the division have been submerged in floods. About 1.6 million residents of the division have become waterlogged. In this situation, the upcoming HSC and equivalent exams in the department have been postponed till July 8.

This decision was taken by the Ministry of Education on Thursday (June 20). President of Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee and Chairman of Dhaka Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board Professor Tapan Kumar Sarkar confirmed the information.

He said, flood situation is prevailing in different districts of Sylhet division. There, educational institutions are being used as shelters. Students are not even in a condition to participate in the exam. Exams have been postponed till July 8 due to overall consideration. However, the exams that were scheduled to be held from July 9 will be held as usual.

According to the routine published by the education board, this exam is scheduled to start simultaneously across the country from June 30. On this day, the HSC examination of this year will begin with the Bangla 1st paper exam. On the other hand, Alim exam will start with Quran Majid exam. And there will be examination of HSC (BM/BMT) Bangla-II subject under technical board.

Since the decision to postpone the examination till July 8 has been taken, the Sylhet Board will not take the Bengali first and second paper and English first and second paper exam for the time being. The Board of Education will announce the new schedule of the examination of these four subjects at a later date.

In this year, Sylhet Board has a total of 82 thousand 417 candidates from 309 educational institutions in HSC and equivalent exams.
