Dengue Claims 8 More Lives in 24 Hours as Hospitalizations Rise across Bangladesh

Eight additional individuals succumbed to dengue across the nation throughout the preceding 24-hour duration, elevating the cumulative mortality toll resulting from the mosquito-borne illness to 157 for the current year.

A total of 1,733 patients sought hospital admission during the same 24-hour window, while 11,282 patients successfully recuperated and were released from medical facilities, as outlined in data released by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Geographically, the newly hospitalized patients comprised 701 admissions from Dhaka Division, 110 from Mymensingh Division, 191 from Chattogram Division, 302 from Khulna Division, 191 from Barishal Division, 145 from Rajshahi Division, 86 from Rangpur Division, and 7 from Sylhet Division.

Since the onset of the current year, healthcare institutions nationwide have registered an aggregate of 53,570 patient admissions, out of which 49,375 individuals have completed their medical care and returned home following recovery.

For comparison, the preceding year witnessed a total of 102,861 confirmed infections alongside 413 fatalities attributable to the disease.
