After assuming the presidency, Donald Trump signed several executive orders which had significant national and international implications. Below are some of the most notable decisions:

Withdrawal from the World Health Organization (WHO)
One of Trump's first executive orders was to withdraw the United States from the World Health Organization (WHO). The US will leave the WHO within a year and cease all financial contributions.

Trump accused the WHO of lacking independence and claimed it was influenced by certain member states, particularly China. He argued that the US was disproportionately funding the organization, contributing 18% of its budget.

Trump said, "The WHO is draining us. Everyone is exploiting America, but I will not let that happen anymore."

This decision echoed Trump's similar withdrawal attempt in 2021, which was reversed when Joe Biden rejoined the WHO during his presidency.

Withdrawal from the Paris Climate Agreement
Trump also signed an executive order to withdraw the US from the Paris Climate Agreement. The agreement aimed at combating global climate change, requires formal notification to the United Nations, with a withdrawal process lasting about a year.

Trump justified the decision by emphasizing the US's role as the largest producer of oil and natural gas, signalling his commitment to boosting domestic drilling.

He emphasized ramping up drilling efforts, saying, "Drill, baby, drill!"

Pardoning Capitol Rioters
In a highly controversial move, Trump pardoned over 1,500 individuals charged in connection with the January 6, 2021, Capitol riots. He declared these individuals as victims of a national injustice and ordered the immediate withdrawal of all pending cases against them, as well as the release of those incarcerated.

This decision has sparked significant debate, given the widespread damage and repercussions of the Capitol attack.

Declaring a National Emergency at the Mexico Border
Trump declared a national emergency at the southern border, allowing for the deployment of military forces to address immigration concerns.

Trump said, "I have no objection to immigrants coming legally. We need people, but they must come through legal channels."

In addition, he issued an executive order designating Mexican drug cartels as terrorist organizations, intensifying his administration's stance on border security and organized crime.

Birthright Citizenship
Currently, anyone born in the US automatically receives American citizenship, a right enshrined in the US Constitution. Trump has signed an executive order seeking to change this law.

Sitting in the Oval Office, he signed an order on this issue. However, analysts believe that altering a constitutional right through an executive order may not be feasible, and this decision could face legal challenges.

TikTok Ban Postponed
While revisiting his earlier efforts to ban TikTok, Trump signed an order delaying the ban by 75 days. He stated that more time was needed to evaluate whether the platform should be banned or sold to a US-based company.

Other Decisions
Trump has temporarily halted national-level recruitment and signed an order requiring all government employees to work from the office rather than remotely.
