The government has officially appointed Md Aminul Islam as the new Chief Prosecutor of the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT).
According to a notification issued on Monday by the Solicitor Wing of the Law and Justice Division, Aminul Islam will hold the rank, status, and full privileges equivalent to the Attorney General of Bangladesh.
The official order, signed by Solicitor Md Monjurul Hossain, confirms that the appointment is to take effect immediately.
Consequently, the government has cancelled the appointment of the previous Chief Prosecutor Advocate Tajul Islam.
This transition marks a pivotal change in the leadership of the tribunal responsible for adjudicating crimes against humanity, aligning its prosecutorial head with the highest legal office in the country.
