Attorney General Barrister Md Ruhul Quddus Kazal on Sunday said that justice in the case lodged over the brutal rape and murder of child Ramisa was ensured within the shortest possible time due to the highly active role of all organs of the state machinery.

He made the remarks while responding to journalists at his office after the pronouncement of the much-discussed verdict in the Ramisa rape and murder case.

Elaborating on the coordinated effort, the chief law officer of the state noted, "I think in Ramisa's case, everyone in the state machinery played a very active role, which is why we have been able to secure justice for this brutal murder in the shortest possible time."

The Attorney General further explained the subsequent legal procedures, stating that after the death reference—which includes all case records related to the judgment—of Sunday's verdict from the trial court reaches the High Court, there is a formal provision for preparing it for a hearing.

"We will try to ensure its hearing in the shortest possible time. In this case, a special directive from the chief justice may be required," he added.

His remarks came immediately after the Dhaka Metropolitan Children's Violence Suppression Tribunal earlier on this day convicted Sohel Rana and his wife Swapna Akter, sentencing them both to death in the child Ramisa rape and murder case, alongside imposing fines of BDT 5 lakh and BDT 2 lakh respectively.
