Charge Framing against Hasina, 33 Others in Hossain Murder Case Deferred Aug 13

A local court postponed the indictment hearing against ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and 33 co-accused in connection with the murder of truck driver Md. Hossain during the July-August mass uprising 2024, rescheduling the proceedings for August 13.

Although the hearing was originally slated for Sunday, prison officials were unable to produce accused Forkan Hossain in court. 

In response, Judge Robiul Alam of the Dhaka Special Judge Court-4 granted a time petition submitted by the prosecution and fixed the new hearing date.

Case records indicate that Md. Hossain sustained fatal gunshot wounds in the Mohammadpur Chand Udyan area on July 19, 2024, while heading home after leaving his vehicle in Gabtoli, later succumbing to his injuries.

The victim's mother, Rina Begum, lodged a formal complaint with Mohammadpur Police Station on August 31, 2024. 

Following their investigation, law enforcement officers submitted a charge sheet on November 23, 2025, naming 34 individuals, including Sheikh Hasina, Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, Hasan Mahmud, and Jahangir Kabir Nanak.
