A Dhaka court on Thursday rescheduled the hearing on charge framing for the case involving the death of truck driver Md Hossain during the July-August mass uprising 2024, postponing proceedings until September 1.
The case involves former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and 33 other co-accused.
Although Thursday was designated for the hearing, the session could not proceed as prison officials were unable to produce several of the accused individuals before the court.
Consequently, Judge Robiul Alam of the Dhaka Special Judge Court-4 granted a time extension requested by the prosecution and set the new date for the proceedings.
Legal records state that the victim, Md Hossain, was fatally shot in the Chand Udyan area of Mohammadpur on July 19, 2024.
He had been returning to his residence after parking his vehicle in the Gabtoli area when he sustained the injuries that ultimately claimed his life.
The victim’s mother, Rina Begum, initiated the legal action by filing a murder case at the Mohammadpur Police Station on August 31, 2024.
Following an investigation, police submitted a formal charge sheet on November 23, 2025, naming 34 individuals as defendants.
In addition to former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the list of accused includes prominent former government figures such as Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, Hasan Mahmud, and Jahangir Kabir Nanak.
