Tarique Rahman, BNP's acting chairman, former state minister for home affairs Lutfozzaman Babar, and six others have been acquitted in a bribery case involving Tk 21 crore. The case was related to granting immunity to Safiat Sobhan Sanvir, a director of Bashundhara Group, in the Sabbir murder case.

The verdict was announced on Thursday (March 20) morning by the Special Judge Court-3. Following the ruling, BNP's legal representatives confirmed that no more cases remain against Tarique Rahman and Babar in the trial court.

BNP lawyer Borhan Uddin stated that the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) failed to provide any evidence against the accused. As a result, there are no longer any legal barriers preventing Tarique Rahman from returning to the country and resuming his political activities.
