Chief Advisor Dr Muhammad Yunus has extended an invitation to the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) for a discussion scheduled on June 2 at the state guest house, Jamuna. The announcement was made by BNP Standing Committee Member Salahuddin Ahmed during an event organised by the party's agricultural wing, Krishak Dal, in the capital on Saturday afternoon.

Ahmed stated that while the formalities for dialogue have been observed, there has been no tangible outcome so far. "The Chief Advisor has invited us for talks, but despite the official gestures, no meaningful progress has been made," he said.

Criticising the government's reform initiatives, Ahmed remarked, "These so-called reforms are nothing more than symbolic acts—like hanging a banana as a show. The people demand elections before December, and there's no justification for delaying them beyond that. If the government believes there is a valid reason to do so, it should be made public."

He further alleged that forces opposed to elections are branding BNP leaders as traitors and foreign agents. "After 17 years of struggle and sacrifice, a certain faction is now attacking us with baseless accusations," he said.

Ahmed also accused the ruling party of fostering division within the nation. "Through fascist tactics, a segment of the population is being set against the rest. This is deeply concerning," he added.
