Barcelona has seized control of the La Liga title race, taking full advantage of a slip-up by arch-rivals Real Madrid.

Following Real Madrid’s 2-1 defeat to Osasuna on Saturday (February 21), Hansi Flick’s side capitalized on the opportunity to climb to the summit of the table.

In a dominant display at home on Sunday (February 22), Barcelona secured a comfortable 3-0 victory against Levante, officially moving into first place.

Clinical First Half
The Catalan giants wasted no time asserting their dominance. Just five minutes into the match, Marc Bernal found the back of the net with a composed finish to give the hosts an early 1-0 lead.

Barcelona doubled their advantage in the 32nd minute. Following a pinpoint pass from João Cancelo, midfielder Frenkie de Jong clinicaly finished the move, sending Barcelona into the halftime break with a commanding 2-0 cushion.

Second Half Dominance
Hansi Flick opted to keep his starting XI unchanged for the start of the second half as Barcelona continued to dictate the tempo.

Throughout the match, João Cancelo was a standout performer, playing a pivotal role in the buildup to the opening goals, while Robert Lewandowski remained a constant threat leading the line.

The victory was sealed in the 80th minute when Fermín López unleashed a powerful long-range strike that flew into the side of the net, making it 3-0.

Boost for the Title Race
The match also saw significant returns for the squad, with Raphinha returning to the starting lineup and Pedri making a much-anticipated appearance off the bench following his recovery from injury.

With this win, Barcelona officially overtakes Real Madrid in the standings, significantly strengthening their position as the frontrunners for the La Liga trophy.
