India to extend support Bangladesh’s development: Home Minister

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has expressed the need for effective measures to strengthen bilateral relations between Bangladesh and India.


“The importance of increasing cooperation between the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Border Security Force (BSF) to enhance the security of both countries,” he said on Tuesday (Jan 16).


He mentioned plans to boost the training of law enforcers in Bangladesh.

He also said that India would contribute to Bangladesh's economic development by leveraging its experience, and both countries should work together to ensure mutual interests in areas such as security, economy, and communication.

Indian High Commissioner Prannoy Verma mentioned ongoing efforts to simplify the visa process for Bangladeshis and reported that 1.6 million visas were issued by India to Bangladeshis in 2023.


He expressed optimism about the continuation of this friendly relationship in the coming years.
