Food inflation in the country has increased again. Food inflation soared to 10.22 percent in April. In the previous month, the rate was 9.87 percent. The Rural areas are under more pressure than urban areas due to this increase in inflation.
Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) released this updated information on Monday (May 13). Food inflation was 10.76 percent in November last year. Four months later, food inflation exceeded 10 percent again.
According to the latest update, non-food inflation eased slightly in April; Last month, the inflation rate was 9.34 percent. Earlier in March, it was 9.64 percent. As a result, the overall inflation decreased slightly to 9.74 percent in April. In March, the rate was 9.81 percent.
The BBS data says, the inflation rate is higher in rural areas than in urban areas. In April, the general inflation rate in urban areas was 9.46 percent, while in rural areas it was 9.92 percent. The inflation rate in the food sector in rural areas is 10.25 percent and in the non-food sector is 9.60 percent.
On the other hand, the inflation rate in the food sector in the city is 10.19 percent but in the non-food sector it is 9.01 percent. Inflation has increased in all sectors in rural areas compared to urban areas.
