Finance Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali said that the government's contraction policy will continue for some time to control inflation. 'In spite of this, we will try to increase the growth to 6.75 percent, which is now estimated as 5.82 percent in the current financial year,' according to Finance Minister.

He said this while facing reporters on Friday (June 7) afternoon, the day after presenting his first budget in the National Parliament as Finance Minister. A post-budget press conference was organized at Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital. Ministers and Secretaries of some departments were also with him.

Citing instability in global trade as the cause of inflation in Bangladesh, the finance minister said the government's contractionary policy will continue to control inflation. Besides, the duty has been reduced for the import of daily necessities. The government is taking various steps to implement the plan of 'LDC graduation' in 2026 and becoming a developed country in 2041.
