1,200 crores loss of three companies

It is estimated that at least Tk 1,200 crores have been lost of three companies due to the attack and arson of miscreants surrounding the quota movement.

Miscreants set fire to the Directorate of Disaster Management on July 18. Their 53 cars and 13 motorcycles were burnt to ashes. There was extensive damage inside and outside the building. According to the authorities, at least Tk 400 crores of damage was done to the disaster management building in this terrible rampage.

On the same day, miscreants vandalized and set fire to the office of National Television (BTV) in Rampura of the capital. After that, BTV stopped broadcasting. BTV's archives and various departments were damaged in this. At least Tk 400 crores have been lost in the fire.

Apart from this, Banani's Setu bhaban was attacked and set on fire. At this time, 55 cars were burnt. The first floor to the third floor of the building was completely burnt. The entire 14-storey building was turned into ashes.

Bangladesh Bridge Authority Chief Engineer Kazi Md. Ferdaus said that, in total, the loss of the bridge department in this fire may be around Tk 400 crore.

Not only these three organizations, but miscreants have carried out terrible rampages around the quota movement. The miscreants set fire to the toll plaza of the capital's Mayor Mohammad Hanif flyover, toll plazas of the Banani and Mohakhali elevated expressway, the metro rail station, the data center at Mohakhali, the police outpost, traffic boxes and many vehicles.

At least 159 cases have been registered in different police stations of the country including the capital in connection with this terrible violence across the country. Various police units including RAB-DB are conducting operations to arrest those involved. So far 2 thousand 747 people have been arrested.
