None of us are following Law and Constitution: HC
The High Court commented that no one in the country is following the law and constitution.
The bench comprising Justice Mustafa Zaman Islam and Justice SM Masud Hossain Dolan made this comment during the hearing on Tuesday (July 30) on the writ petition for seeking an order not to fire during the movement.
The court said, all deaths are tragic. We are ashamed of the incidents of violence and human deaths during the quota movement.
The High Court also said that everything is written in the constitution and law. But none of us are following the constitution, the law.
Barrister Sara Hossain, Advocate ZI Khan Panna, Barrister Anik R. Haque, Advocate Manzur Al Matin Pritam appeared in court for the writ. Additional Attorney General SM Munir, Additional Attorney General Sheikh Md. Morshed and Additional Attorney General Barrister Mehedi Hasan Chowdhury heard on behalf of the state.
Earlier on Monday, a writ was filed seeking an instruction not to fire on the agitators and the release of 6 coordinators of the quota reform movement from DB custody. Supreme Court lawyer Manzur Al Matin Pritam and Ainun Nahar Siddiqa Lipi filed the writ.
Cabinet Secretary, Home Secretary, Inspector General of Police, Chief of Army Staff and others have been made defendants in the writ.
