Dengue: 8 More Die, Highest in a Single Day This Year

Bangladesh recorded 8 deaths from dengue fever today, marking the highest number of fatalities from the viral infection in a single day so far this year.

8 died, and 1,221 new patients were admitted to the hospital in the last 24 hours due to Aedes mosquito-borne dengue fever.

This information was reported in the press release of the Health and Emergency Operation Center and Control Room of the Department of Health on Sunday (September 29).

According to the press release, among the new admissions in the hospital, there are 74 people in Barishal Division, 183 in Chattogram Division, 267 in Dhaka Division (outside City Corporation), 206 in Dhaka North City, 228 in Dhaka South City, 134 in Khulna Division. Apart from this, 53 new patients were admitted in Rajshahi division, 48 in the Mymensingh division, and 28 new patients in Rangpur division.

So far 158 people have died due to this mosquito-borne disease this year. Apart from this, a total of 29,786 people were infected with dengue from January 1 to September 28 this year.

Meanwhile, 1,090 dengue patients have been discharged from hospitals across the country in the last 24 hours. A total of 26,331 got clearance this year.
