The distinct low-pressure area located in the southeast Bay of Bengal and adjacent equatorial Indian Ocean area has moved west-northwestwards and intensified into a low-pressure area over the southeast Bay of Bengal and adjacent areas.
This information was given in the special weather bulletin number one on Monday (November 25).
It further said that the low-pressure area was located 2040 km south-southwest of Chattogram Seaport, 1970 km south-southwest of Cox's Bazar Seaport, 1995 km south-southwest of Mongla Seaport, and 1965 km south-southwest of Payra Seaport at noon. It may move further west-northwestwards and intensify.
The maximum sustained wind speed within 44 km of the depression is 40 kmph, increasing to 50 kmph in gusts or squalls. The sea is rough in the vicinity of the depression.
In this situation, the seaports of Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla, and Payra have been asked to display distant warning signal number 1. All fishing boats and trawlers in the North Bay of Bengal and deep sea have been asked to move with caution near the coast until further notice.
