Due to a mechanical failure, the metro rail service has been halted. The service was stopped at 1:20 pm on Saturday, January 25.

According to a source from Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL), the issue began after the last train left the Uttara Center Station at 1:15 pm heading toward Motijheel. The next train was scheduled for 1:25 pm, but it did not arrive even by 1:32 pm.

It is reported that after leaving, the train stopped on the way before Uttara South Station. After being halted for around 15 minutes, the train was taken back to the Uttara Center Station. The passengers were evacuated, and the metro authorities attempted to resolve the issue with the train empty.

After speaking with a few responsible individuals of the metro, it was confirmed that as of 2:13 pm, the service has not resumed, and work is still ongoing.

Meanwhile, thousands of passengers are waiting at the stations due to the disruption in the metro rail service.
