During discussions with key figures from various countries at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland, regarding the finalization of the July Proclamation, Interim Government Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus expressed optimism about achieving political consensus soon. Accordingly, the government hopes to reach a political consensus on the July Proclamation by next week.

At a briefing organized by the Chief Adviser’s Press Wing at the Foreign Service Academy on Bailey Road in the capital on Wednesday (January 29), Deputy Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad Majumdar provided the latest updates on the July Proclamation in response to inquiries.

He stated that the government hopes to reach a political consensus by the first week of February.

It is worth noting that the organizations leading the July uprising—the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement and their affiliated Jatiya Nagorik Committee—had initially planned to announce the July Charter at the Central Shaheed Minar on December 31.

Later, the Interim Government’s Advisory Council decided to take steps to draft the July Charter themselves. In response, the leaders of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement set a deadline of January 15 for the government to finalize the document. Subsequently, on January 16, Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus organized an all-party dialogue on the issue, where various political parties shared their views.

Following this, the government invited opinions from all stakeholders, including political parties involved in the uprising, regarding the formulation of the July Proclamation.

It was announced that written opinions could be submitted to Interim Government Adviser Mahfuz Alam at the Chief Adviser’s Office until January 23. All stakeholders, including political parties, were encouraged to provide their well-considered opinions in writing.
