Director General (DG) of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Benazir Ahmed said, this country belongs to all. In 1971 people from all communities being united made this country independent by sacrificing their lives. Being together led by this government we are taking the country forward. But during the voting season setting fire on Hindu homes in Thakurgaon is an ignominious incident for the nation.
He said these at a harmony gathering after handing over keys for the new homes to the owner whose houses were gutted at Jagannathpur Singiya village under Thakurgaon sadar upazila on Friday.
Benazir Ahmed said, under the voting atmosphere on December 21 houses of Krishna Ghosh were set ablaze. In this incident eight homes, 60 maunds of paddy and furniture were gutted and seven goats were dead.
He said, Krishna Ghosh later filed a case with sadar police station accusing former Jagannathpur union chairman and BNP leader Mostafizur Rahman Liton and other 10 in this connection.
Benazir said, those who attack the minority community people when election comes, are the ignominy for the nation.
The RAB chief sought cooperation from all to bring them under justice, who are responsible for such attack.
Upholding reconstructing homes on behalf of the force for the affected family he said that better homes were constructed for them.
Commenting that government and the state are with the minority community the RAB DG said, we want them to live in this country with self confidence. Also want a fearless environment.
Benazir Ahmed said, a RAB camp was set up in the area following the incident. RAB is under alert for the security of minority community people throughout the country. As well as huge preparation was taken so that people can cast their votes peaceful and fair manner on December 30.
