President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Tuesday urged for intensified research and technological innovation across key emerging sectors, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), nanotechnology, biotechnology and semiconductor manufacturing, to advance general public welfare.

The President articulated this call while receiving a delegation from Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET), headed by Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Muhammad Masud, during a courtesy call at Bangabhaban, according to President's Press Secretary Md. Sarwar Alam.

The President emphasized that vigilant oversight and heightened awareness must be maintained to prevent the unregulated and arbitrary deployment of automated systems.

"Uncontrolled use of AI is reducing people's thinking capacity and creativity. Therefore, it's essential to ensure its use for public welfare and in moderation," he observed.

Throughout the audience, the Vice-Chancellor briefed the President on the institution's comprehensive academic operations and structural progress.

Addressing administrative strategy, the Head of State remarked that higher educational excellence should undergo broader decentralization rather than remaining concentrated within the national capital.

He further underscored the imperative of integrating university systems more directly into national-level research and development (R&D) frameworks.

During the interaction, the Vice-Chancellor formally extended an invitation to the President to preside over the forthcoming KUET convocation in his capacity as the University Chancellor.

The President accepted the invitation and confirmed his participation in the ceremony, Press Secretary Md. Sarwar Alam stated.

The delegation meeting was attended by the President's Military Secretary, Secretary, and Press Secretary, alongside several senior university faculty members.
