Following resistance from the businessmen and locals in Bakshibazar the chemical warehouse eviction drive was suspended for one hour. Then it again has resumed led by Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sayeed Khokon.
The chemical warehouse eviction drive began at 2:30 pm at Joynag Road in Bakshibazar. Earlier the drive called off following obstacles created by the warehouse and house owners. After hearing the news of drive suspension Mayor Khokon arrived there.
Earlier Chawkbazar police station informed that a team of City Corporation unearthed a chemical warehouse at a residential building at Joynag Road on Saturday. But the task force members suspended their drive following hindrance created by the warehouse and house owners when they tried to disconnect the gas and electricity supply line.
Meanwhile, after hearing the drive suspension news DSCC Mayor Sayeed Khokon in a prompt press conference said, a team of unscrupulous businessmen created obstacles. I will go to the spot at 2 pm and lead the drive. Let’s see who creates obstacle. Legal action will be taken against them.
