People pour into Shimulia ghat on the last day

Pressure of home going people is still remaining at Shimulia ghat under Munshiganj district. Thousands of people who want to go to 21 southern districts are gathering there on Thursday, the last day before the Eid Day. Meanwhile, after announcement of resuming transport service through ferry ghats a good number of private vehicles are seen on the way.

It was known that additional members of police force were deployed to maintain law and order situation at the entering point of Shimulia ghat and other check posts. BIWTC authority has said that currently 16 ferries are in operation through the Shimulia-Banglabazar river route.

On Thursday it was seen that at the ferry ghat people were gathering on foot slowly and there were rush of people. Number of law enforcers was increased. Passengers and vehicles were getting on board systematically. Gatherings have reduced on the pontoons.

In this regard Mawa traffic police in charge Hilal Ahmed said, More than two hundred private cars and 150 trucks were seen waiting to cross the river. More than hundred police force members were deployed in the ghat area to maintain the law and order situation there.
