The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has issued arrest warrants against seven more individuals, including two police officers, in connection with the July-August uprising massacre last year. Additionally, permission has been granted to interrogate a police constable regarding the incident.
On Sunday (February 9), the tribunal issued arrest warrants for incidents that occurred in Mirpur, Rampura, and Uttara as part of the ongoing investigation into the July massacre case.
According to the prosecution, investigations into several cases related to the most brutal events of the July-August uprising are nearing completion, with final reports expected to be submitted this month.
So far, 115 individuals have been brought to trial across 18 cases. Among them, 52 are Awami League leaders and activists, 45 are members of law enforcement agencies, and 9 are former military officers. To date, 35 of the accused have been arrested.
During a hearing on Sunday, the International Crimes Tribunal inquired about the progress of these investigations. Prosecutor Gazi MH Tamim stated that several investigation reports are set to be submitted within the month.
Prosecutor BM Sultan Mahmud confirmed that fresh arrest warrants had been issued against seven individuals linked to incidents in Mirpur, Rampura, and Uttara. Among them are two police officers and five Awami League leaders and activists.
Additionally, the tribunal has approved an eight-hour interrogation of Police Constable Sujon, who was allegedly involved in the indiscriminate shooting at Chankharpul in the capital on August 5.
