Yunus, Modi Meet: Bangladesh Seeks Hasina's Extradition

During the BIMSTEC summit in Bangkok, Bangladesh's Chief Advisor Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a bilateral meeting for over half an hour. Various issues of mutual interest, including the repatriation of Sheikh Hasina, were raised by Bangladesh during the meeting.

This information was provided by the Chief Advisor's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam on Friday (April 4).

Shafiqul Alam said that the meeting between the heads of the two governments of Bangladesh and India was very constructive and fruitful. All issues of mutual interest were discussed.

The Press Secretary said that the issue of Sheikh Hasina's repatriation and her provocative statements from India were raised in the meeting. Besides, fruitful discussions were held on various issues of mutual interest, including border killings and the distribution of the Teesta River water.

This was the first meeting between Professor Yunus and the Indian Prime Minister after taking charge of the interim government.

The Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) summit is being held in Bangkok from April 2 to 4.
