As of today, Friday, May 23, 2025, a total of 54,497 Bangladeshi pilgrims have arrived in Saudi Arabia to perform the holy Hajj this year.
This information was released in the latest Hajj-related bulletin. It states that these pilgrims traveled on 141 flights. Of the total, 4,583 pilgrims are under government management, while 49,914 are under private management.
Out of the 141 flights, Biman Bangladesh Airlines operated 73, Saudi Arabian Airlines operated 47, and Flynas Airlines operated 21.
Sadly, nine Bangladeshi pilgrims have died so far during this year's Hajj, comprising eight men and one woman. Their names are Hafez Uddin (73) from Jamalpur's Bakshiganj; Khalilur Rahman from Rajbari; Md. Fariduzzaman from Kishoreganj; Al Hamida Banu from Panchagarh; Md. Shahjahan Kabir from Mohammadpur, Dhaka; Foyez Uddin (72) from Nilphamari; Ohidur Rahman (72) from Sandwip Upazila, Chattogram; Zainal Hossain (60) from Gazipur Sadar; and Abdul Hannan Molla (63) from Matlab, Chandpur.
This year's Hajj is expected to take place on June 5, depending on the sighting of the moon. The first flight for pilgrims departed on April 29, and the last flight will leave on May 31. Return flights are scheduled to begin on June 10, with the final return flight arriving in Bangladesh on July 10.
