Tulip Siddiq, who recently resigned from her ministerial post in the UK government, has requested an opportunity to meet with Dr. Muhammad Yunus in London. She hopes the meeting will help resolve "a misunderstanding."

Tulip Siddiq, niece of former Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, recently stepped down from her roles as Economic Secretary to the Treasury and City Minister in the UK government following corruption allegations in Bangladesh.

Bangladesh's Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) alleged that she or her mother acquired 7,200 square feet of land in Dhaka by "abusing power and influence." Siddiq has claimed these allegations are "politically motivated and baseless."

Siddiq has written to Dr. Muhammad Yunus, the Nobel laureate economist and head of Bangladesh's interim government, requesting a meeting. Dr. Yunus is scheduled to visit the UK next Monday (June 9) for a four-day tour, during which he will meet King Charles and hold talks with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer. Tulip Siddiq is seeking to meet him during this trip.

In her letter, Tulip wrote, "I hope this meeting will help dispel the misconceptions propagated by the ACC."

She further stated, "I am a British citizen, born in London, and have represented the Hampstead and Kilburn constituency in Parliament for the past decade. While I have a deep love for Bangladesh, it is not the place of my birth, residence, or professional life. I have no property or business interests in Bangladesh."

Tulip claims that despite her lawyers attempting to contact the ACC, the commission has refused to speak with them and is sending letters to a "random address in Dhaka."

She stated that "every development of this fabricated investigation is being disseminated through the media, while my lawyers have not been contacted at all. You will surely understand how crucial it is to stop this misleading propaganda, given my commitment to my work."

Meanwhile, the ACC is investigating allegations that Sheikh Hasina and her family embezzled millions of pounds in infrastructure projects. Tulip has claimed this is "politically motivated propaganda" driven by her aunt's opponents.

News reports last month indicated that a Bangladeshi court issued an arrest warrant against Tulip. However, she stated that she knows nothing about it.

Last month, the UK's National Crime Agency (NCA) seized luxury properties in London worth approximately nine million pounds, owned by two individuals with ties to Sheikh Hasina.
