Interim government's Chief Adviser, Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, is departing today for a four-day visit to the United Kingdom.
On Monday (June 9), Bangladesh Bank Governor Dr. Ahsan H. Mansur and Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Chairman Dr. Abdul Momen will accompany the Chief Adviser as part of his delegation to the UK.
During this four-day visit, Dr. Yunus will meet with British King Charles III at Buckingham Palace. He is scheduled to receive the 'King Charles Harmony Award' from King Charles at that time.
It is known that Dr. Yunus will meet King Charles III at Buckingham Palace on June 12. On the afternoon of the same day, the head of government is expected to receive the King Charles Harmony Award from King Charles III at St. James's Palace.
A bilateral meeting between the Chief Adviser and Keir Starmer is scheduled to take place at 10 Downing Street on June 11. Additionally, he is set to participate in a dialogue organized by the UK policy research institute, Chatham House.
Earlier, Chief Adviser's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam shared this information during a press briefing held at the Foreign Service Academy on Bailey Road, Dhaka, on Wednesday (June 4).
He stated that British High Commissioner Sarah Cooke met with the Chief Adviser today to discuss various aspects of the upcoming visit.
Bilateral meetings on various issues of mutual interest, including a meeting with Prince Charles, will be held there.
Furthermore, the visit aims to revitalize the relationship between the two countries and foster closer cooperation in economics, trade, and investment.
In response to a question, Shafiqul Alam said that the recovery of money illegally laundered from Bangladesh to the United Kingdom will also be discussed.
