The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has issued a public notice prohibiting all forms of meetings, rallies, public gatherings, processions, and demonstrations in the Bangladesh Secretariat, and around the Chief Adviser's official residence, Jamuna, and its adjacent areas.
The directive was issued in a public notice signed by DMP Commissioner Sheikh Md. Sajjat Ali on Wednesday (June 4) and was made public on Sunday (June 8).
The notice states: "This is for the general public's information that, in the interest of maintaining public order and the Chief Adviser's security, and exercising the powers vested under Section 29 of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Ordinance (Ordinance No. III/76), effective from Monday, June 9, 2025, and until further notice, all types of meetings, rallies, public gatherings, processions, and demonstrations are prohibited in the Bangladesh Secretariat and the Chief Adviser's official residence, Jamuna, and its surrounding areas (Hotel Intercontinental intersection, Kakrail Mosque intersection, Officers' Club intersection, Minto Road)."
