Public transport, private cars, and CNG-run auto-rickshaws will be allowed to ply roads on the voting day so that voters can go to the polling centers to cast their votes easily.

Public Security Division Senior Secretary Mustafizur Rahman gave the directive at a training program for the executive magistrates at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre on Tuesday (Jan 2).

Motorbikes will not be allowed on the road from January 5 midnight to January 8 midnight, said the circular.

The ban will be flexible for law enforcers, armed forces, admin and approved observers.

All types of vehicles providing emergency services like medicine, health services and newspaper transportation will be out of the purview.

At the training program, executive magistrates have been instructed to remain alert about various rumors on the voting day.

“Do not make any decision without cross-checking the information first. There will be coordination cells at the central and district levels. Whatever happens, they will have information. Cross-check first and go into action,” the official added.

Mentioning the Press Information Department (PID) and National Telecommunication Monitoring Center (NTMC) teams will be available for executive magistrates’ service, he said: "Our 24/7 teams will work from now to January 10."
