Fojor Ali, the main accused in the rape of an expatriate's wife in Muradnagar, Cumilla, has been arrested by police from the Sayedabad area of the capital. Additionally, four more individuals have been arrested on charges of recording the rape video, filming the victim unclothed, and disseminating the video on social media.
This information was confirmed in a press release signed by Cumilla District Superintendent of Police Nazir Ahmed Khan on Sunday (June 29) morning.
The arrested individuals are Fojor Ali (the alleged rapist) and Anik, Sumon, Ramjan, and Babu, who were involved in recording the video. All of them are residents of Panchkitta village in Ramchandrapur Dakshin Union, Muradnagar.
Police reported that on Thursday (June 26) night, Fojor Ali, son of Shahid Mia from Panchkitta village, cunningly opened the door and raped a woman who had come to visit her father's home in Muradnagar from Homna. During the incident, several onlookers arrived at the scene, saw the victim unclothed, recorded a video, and later spread it on social media.
Fojor Ali then fled after being beaten by locals. The day after the incident, the victim herself filed a case at Muradnagar Police Station. Police immediately launched an operation following the filing of the case.
Muradnagar Police Station's Officer-in-Charge (OC) Zahidur Rahman stated that in addition to the rape case, preparations are underway for a separate case regarding the dissemination of the video. The victim's medical examination has been completed.
District Superintendent of Police Nazir Ahmed Khan said, "The main accused, Fojor Ali, was arrested in an injured state and is receiving medical treatment. Four individuals involved in spreading the video have been arrested from various locations in Cumilla. Action will be taken against them under the Information and Communication Technology Act."
