Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed, the Finance Advisor to the interim government, announced that work is underway to bring 1,519 madrasas across the country under the Monthly Pay Order (MPO) system.
He made this statement on Monday (June 2) at 3 PM, during his presentation of the proposed budget for the 2025-26 fiscal year.
Regarding the development of madrasa education, the Finance Advisor stated that the construction of 1,135 madrasa buildings has been completed, with an additional 513 multi-story buildings currently under construction.
Furthermore, multimedia classrooms have been established in 493 madrasas. He also proposed allocating BDT 728 crore for scholarships at the Ibtedayi (primary) level and for the MPO inclusion of madrasas.
Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed also noted that the current enrollment rate in technical education is 19%, and efforts are being made to increase it to 20% by 2025.
To achieve this, women's polytechnics and engineering colleges are being established at the divisional level, polytechnics at the district level, and technical schools at the upazila (sub-district) level.
