President Donald Trump has removed General Charles Q Brown from his position as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the highest-ranking role in the US Armed Forces.

The dismissal took place on Friday, February 21.

Reports indicate that retired Air Force Lieutenant General John Dan Keane will take Brown's place. This move is highly unusual, as Keane is being brought out of retirement and does not hold the rank of a four-star general.

Trump addressed the decision on his social media platform, Truth Social, referring to General Brown as a "gentleman" and a "great leader" while also hinting at further removals within the military’s leadership.

"I have instructed Defense Secretary Hegseth to finalize the nominations of five more senior officials, which will be announced very soon," Trump wrote.

Before taking office on January 20, Trump had pledged significant changes in the military. Brown’s dismissal marks the beginning of that restructuring.
