Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has stated that Iran will not engage in negotiations with the United States under threats. Addressing U.S. President Donald Trump, he said, "Do whatever the hell you want." Iran’s state media reported this on Tuesday (March 11).
According to Reuters, Pezeshkian further asserted, "We cannot accept that the U.S. merely orders and threatens us. I won’t even discuss this with you. You can do whatever the hell you wish."
Previously, Trump had sent a letter urging Iran to engage in negotiations over a new nuclear deal. However, Tehran later stated that it had not received any such letter from Trump regarding nuclear discussions.
During a meeting with top Iranian officials, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei accused the U.S. of seeking dominance in the region rather than a genuine resolution through negotiations.
While expressing renewed interest in an agreement with Tehran, Trump has also reinstated his "maximum pressure" campaign from his first term, aimed at isolating Iran from the global economy and reducing its oil exports to zero.
In an interview with Fox Business last week, Trump said, "There are two ways to deal with Iran—militarily or through a deal that prevents Tehran from acquiring nuclear weapons."
Iran has long denied any intention of developing nuclear weapons. However, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has warned that Iran is rapidly enriching uranium to 60% purity, close to the 90% weapons-grade level.
