Another 42 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks in the besieged Gaza Strip, with nearly 200 more injured. This brings the total death toll in the enclave to approximately 50,400.
More than a thousand Palestinians have been killed since Israel renewed its offensive in Gaza on March 18, according to a report by Anadolu Agency on Tuesday (April 1).
The news agency stated that at least 42 more Palestinians were killed in Israeli strikes in the Gaza Strip. Citing the Gaza Health Ministry on Tuesday, it reported that the total number of fatalities in the territory has risen to 50,399 since Israel's genocidal aggression began in October 2023.
In a statement, the ministry said that 183 more people injured in Israeli attacks in the past 24 hours have been taken to various hospitals in Gaza. This brings the total number of injured since the start of the conflict to 114,583. Many people are still trapped under the rubble and on the streets, and rescue workers have been unable to reach them.
After a 15-month military operation, Israel agreed to a ceasefire in Gaza on January 19, following pressure from the United States and the international community. Relative peace prevailed in Gaza for nearly two months thereafter. However, due to disagreements with Hamas regarding the withdrawal of troops from Gaza, Israel resumed airstrikes in the third week of March.
According to the Health Ministry, 1,042 Palestinians have been killed and more than 2,500 others have been injured in renewed Israeli airstrikes in Gaza since March 18. This renewed aggression by Israel has violated the ceasefire agreement that came into effect in January.
According to the United Nations, about 85 percent of Palestinians in Gaza have been displaced due to Israel's offensive. Additionally, 60 percent of the infrastructure in the besieged territory has been damaged or destroyed.
Previously, in November last year, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
Israel is also facing a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its aggression in the besieged territory.
