UNICEF Afghanistan in its latest statement expressed deep concern over the rapid rise in violence against children in Afghanistan and asked warring parties to uphold international law in this regard.

As per the statement by UNICEF Afghanistan Representative Herve Ludovic De Lys published on Monday, 27 children have been killed and 136 more wounded in the past 72 hours in different provinces of Afghanistan.

The atrocities against the minors are reported to be conducted in Kandahar, Khost, and Paktia provinces.

Southern Kandahar which is thoroughly under the Taliban’s control apart from its center is the most insecure province among the aforementioned ones.

UNICEF has also been deeply concerned about the reports of children being recruited into the conflict by armed groups.

UNICEF Afghanistan has said that the only solution to stop the ongoing atrocities against children is an end to the ongoing hostilities in Afghanistan as it endangers their future and their contribution to the future of their nation.
