Tensions between long-time rivals India and Pakistan have flared up once again, prompting concerns among global analysts about the possibility of an all-out war. The uneasy relationship, strained since their independence, has taken a sharper turn in recent days.
According to a report from ABP Ananda, India has begun preparing for potential military action following a recent attack in Kashmir. In response to an earlier incident in Pahalgam, Pakistan announced a missile test in its Exclusive Economic Zone near Karachi, scheduled between April 24 and 26. The Pakistan Navy confirmed the timeline.
India has responded by increasing its military readiness. On Thursday, the Indian Navy successfully intercepted a low-flying missile using indigenous technology from INS Surat. The Navy stated this test marked a significant boost in the country's defense capabilities.
With both nations ramping up military displays in air and sea, diplomatic relations have reached a freezing point. Each country has expelled the other’s diplomats, and airspace between them has been closed. India has also taken the drastic step of cancelling the Indus Waters Treaty, to which Pakistan responded with threats of strong retaliation.
Adding to the speculation, Indian Home Minister Amit Shah and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met with President Droupadi Murmu on Thursday, reportedly submitting two classified "red files." The content of these files is unknown, but many believe they may pertain to national security or even requests for war authorisation.
As both nations dig in and tensions escalate, the international community watches closely, concerned that the situation could spiral into open conflict.
