In a separate report, Pakistani newspaper The Dawn also stated that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif contacted President Zardari on Tuesday after news of his hospitalization emerged and inquired about his health.

While there has been no official statement from the President's House or Zardari's party, the PPP, regarding the health of their co-chairman, media outlets, citing various sources, have reported that President Zardari was admitted to a hospital in Karachi from Nawabshah.

Contacted for comment, a source close to the party told Dawn.com that he was "undergoing some tests and will be discharged soon."

Furthermore, the office of Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori issued a statement saying that he had called President Zardari's physician, Dr. Asim Hussain, to inquire about his health and conveyed his best wishes.

Previously, in October 2024, President Zardari fractured his leg while disembarking from an airplane and was immediately taken to the hospital for treatment.

The 69-year-old President Zardari has faced several health issues in recent years. In March 2023, he underwent eye surgery in the United Arab Emirates.

Prior to that, in 2022, he was admitted to Dr. Ziauddin Hospital in Karachi for a week for treatment of a chest infection. Amidst rumors of his illness, his personal physician and close aide, Dr. Asim, stated on social media that he was "fine."

He also contracted COVID-19 in July 2022, although his son and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari said at the time that Zardari had only experienced "mild symptoms."

A year earlier, Zardari was admitted to a private hospital in Karachi due to "exertion and fatigue" resulting from frequent travel.
