The U.S. military has carried out airstrikes across various locations in Iran for the 11th consecutive night, targeting the capital city of Tehran and other regions amid reports of successive explosions.

According to a report by Al Jazeera on Tuesday, July 21, the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed that the airstrikes were completed for the 11th straight night. CENTCOM stated that the operations are aimed at further weakening what it described as Iranian threats to commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.

In a statement, CENTCOM reported that U.S. forces targeted Iranian military operations command centers, naval capabilities, aircraft hangars, drone storage facilities, and logistical military infrastructure.

Al Jazeera correspondent Tawhid Assadi, reporting from Tehran, noted that loud explosions were heard across multiple areas of the Iranian capital, while air defense systems were activated in various parts of the city.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Tasnim News Agency reported explosions in several areas of the southern city of Bushehr. The Fars News Agency also reported multiple blasts near the southern city of Sirik.

According to Fars, citing the deputy governor of Khuzestan province, U.S. missile strikes hit areas near the southwestern cities of Behbahan and Omidiyeh.

Fars further reported that a military facility on the outskirts of the northwestern city of Tabriz was targeted by a U.S. strike. Citing local crisis management officials, the agency stated that the attack occurred at 2:40 AM local time, targeting a military zone outside the city limits, with no incidents reported within the city itself.

While recent rounds of U.S. strikes primarily focused on southern Iran and areas surrounding the Strait of Hormuz, the attacks on Tabriz and Tehran signal a potential shift in strategy.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Kuwaiti military announced it had shot down an Iranian drone. Since the resumption of U.S. strikes earlier this month, Iran has repeatedly targeted Gulf nations, including Kuwait, Bahrain, and Qatar.

U.S. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth told Congress on Tuesday that the ongoing conflict with Iran has cost 37.5 billion dollars thus far, adding that the Pentagon requires an additional 90 billion dollars in funding.

Hegseth faced sharp criticism from Democratic lawmakers during the session.

Georgia Senator Jon Ossoff questioned Hegseth regarding the request for additional funds, pointing out that Hegseth had previously claimed the Iranian military was "destroyed" and asking why extra financing is now necessary.

Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that he plans to strike a suspected Iranian nuclear facility known as Pickaxe Mountain "very soon" and "very forcefully."

In response to Trump's threat, Iran's Khatam al-Anbia Central Headquarters warned that any U.S. attack on Iranian nuclear facilities would result in a significant expansion of the conflict's scope across the entire region.
