The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has directed that the investigation against former Officer-in-Charge (OC) Arshad Hossain and two other police officers be completed within the next two months in connection with the July Genocide case. The court has also granted permission for their interrogation in a safe home.
On Sunday (February 23), a three-member bench led by Justice Golam Mortuza Majumdar issued the order.
Former Shahbagh Police Station OC (Operations) Arshad Hossain, Constable Imaz Hossain Pramanik, and Sujan Hossain—who became infamous for firing shots while lying on the ground in Chankharpul—were presented before the tribunal. The prosecution requested two months to submit the investigation report, which the tribunal granted, setting April 22 as the submission deadline.
Additionally, the tribunal approved the prosecution's request for a one-day remand of Arshad Hossain on March 2 and Imaz Hossain Pramanik on March 3.
Moreover, the tribunal ordered a one-day remand for Sub-Inspector Chanchal Kumar Sarkar from the Badda-Rampura area on February 27 following the prosecution’s petition.
The prosecution team included Chief Prosecutor Tajul Islam, BM Sultan Mahmud, Shahidul Islam Sardar, and Gazi MH Tamim, who presented their arguments during Sunday’s hearing.
