Govt primary schools to reopen on Sunday
The government has decided to reopen government primary schools from Sunday (August 4). However, primary schools in 12 city corporations and municipal areas of Narsingdi will remain closed.
The decision was taken at a joint meeting of the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education and the Department of Primary Education on Wednesday (July 31).
Secretary of the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education Farid Ahmed said that primary schools will be opened in all places except 12 city corporations and Narsingdi municipal areas from August 4.
He also said that the class schedule has not been changed. Teaching will continue according to the previous routine. However, the classroom time can be reduced or increased according to the curfew time of the concerned district. The matter will be determined by the District Primary Education Officer.
Earlier, all educational institutions in the country were declared closed from July 16 centering the quota movement.
It is to be noted that there are 3 crore 70 lakh students are at primary and secondary level. Apart from this, there are about 3 million more students in colleges and universities.
