Health Minister Zahid Malek said, service charge list will be fixed for private hospitals and health service providing institutions of the country. Fixing service charge is comparatively a complex process. The ministry is working over fixing service charge. If it is done then the people will not be cheated.
He said these while replying a question at a press conference on the occasion of National Health Service Week at the secretariat on Monday.
The minister said, we have fixed the service charge for the government hospitals. We have asked private hospital authority to submit a list from their end. We will prepare the list after following grading system according to the quality of service.
While replying another question he said, 67 per cent medical expense of the people are done from their own pocket. I think it is very much. We are trying to reduce that. High prices are paid in the country's private hospitals after receiving treatment. Several lakhs people receive treatment from abroad with more expense. When these expenses are added then the average stands high.
About explaining the aim of observing service week Zahid Malek said, we have taken the decision of observing the week to increase quality of service in government and private sector throughout the country. Besides, works will be done so that people become health conscious.
At that time health service division Secretary Md. Asadul Islam said, this process is very complex. It is hard to fix. We will find the path of fixing service charge after consultation with the stakeholders.
The health ministry has taken different programs in the service week keeping ahead the slogan 'Health service is a right, pledge of Sheikh Hasina'. Of the programs there are- cleanliness drive, providing health support without cost and special medical service at the outdoor of all hospitals.
