Hasnat Abdullah, the Chief Organizer for the southern region of the National Citizens' Party (NCP), has announced a blockade at Shahbagh intersection in Dhaka, calling for a ban on the Awami League.

The announcement was made from an anti-Awami League rally on Friday afternoon, around 4:30 pm.

"Our demands have not reached the interim government. Therefore, we are moving from this rally to blockade Shahbagh, where we will stay until our demands are met," said Hasnat Abdullah.

He criticized the Awami League’s political legitimacy, stating, "Why is Awami League still recognized as a political party? Even if you gather a hundred Pharaohs, you won't find another like Hasina. We've heard that the Chief Advisor is trying to hold talks with political parties to discuss the possible ban on Awami League."

Hasnat Abdullah accused the party of undermining democracy, referencing the formation of BAKSAL in 1974 and alleging widespread corruption and misgovernance that, according to him, led to a famine claiming 1.5 million lives.

He also accused the Awami League of having a violent history, claiming the party, with Indian support, was responsible for the killing of patriotic military officers.

The rally began earlier in the day, around 2:45 pm, with participation from various political party members, students, and citizens holding placards and banners.
