Dr. A.K.M. Wahiduzzaman, Information and Technology Affairs Secretary of the BNP's National Executive Committee and a prominent educationist, has reported receiving a threat.
He disclosed the threat in a status update on his verified Facebook page around 11:00 AM on Wednesday (May 21). However, he did not specify who issued the threat or its exact nature.
Wahiduzzaman wrote, "Don't threaten me. I have no personal gains to achieve in this country (which you do). Therefore, you have no power to cause me even minimal harm. Remember, during your previous government's tenure, those who threatened us in this manner are now either fugitives, or they walk around wearing helmets."
He further added, "After 17 long years, some of you joined us in the final stages of the movement to oust Hasina. It is out of respect for you as fellow combatants that I am giving this warning."
The distinguished educationist also wrote, "Don't forget, we agitated for longer than you did during Hasina's era and were subjected to more oppression than you. It is because of our sacrifices and our firm commitment not to assume power undemocratically that you are now in power with little to no contribution."
