Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda said, eleventh national parliament election will be held at the end of 2018 or at the beginning of 2019. And Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) will be used in the national election after getting legal basis.
He said this at the inaugural program of a training workshop at Agargaon in the capital on Saturday.
The workshop is organized on training for electoral officers’ trainers and using EVM keeping ahead the eleventh parliament election.
The CEC said, Election Commission will use EVMs if gets legal basis for using those in the next national parliament election. But before that it should be ensured whether those are errorless or not.
KM Nurul Huda said, EVM should not be imposed additionally. EVM will be used perfectly so far it can be.
He said, there may be doubts or questions in the minds of voters regarding EVM. But we will try to drive away those doubts. We will use EVM in a complete way. EVMs will not be used if there is any type of error.
The CEC said, voting will be easy if EVMs are used, trouble will be reduced and vote counting will also be easy. No voting fraudulence will be happened. But still legal recognition to use EVM in national election is not obtained. It will be used after getting recognition.
To the political party leaders the CEC said, it will be good to comment after being well informed about EVM. We must be advanced to the modern technologies. We have to move away from the manual method of election.
